Study with an Off-Campus Partner
The Athletes Development Centre (ADC) is now part of SPARC and does not have set opening hours. When the Centre is not being used for teaching, then the facilities will be available for external partnership organisations to book appointments at the current rate. Please note that a new contract must be in place and all health and safety processes, (e.g. Risk Assessment and Health Questionnaire Forms), completed in advance of any activities taking place.
SPARC also offers a range of packages for novice athletes. During lockdown many people have taken up walking, running, and cycling. In the past our Athletes Development Centre (ADC) has been focused on elite athletes, but we will now be offering a range of treatments and advise to the local community such as:
- Basic Health Check Package and how to improve performance
- Novice Runners 鈥 advise on how to run and avoid injury
- Overall fitness testing
- Injury prevention advice
- Blood sugar/glucose and pressure testing
- Diabetes testing etc.
- Physiotherapy
- Sports psychology and motivation
SPARC will also continue to offer a range of treatments and packages to elite athletes working in partnerships with our local sports clubs and community groups.
Biomechanical analysis is a powerful tool in the evaluation of movement dysfunction in orthopaedic and neurologic conditions. Using the Vicon System, our Strength & Conditioning Team use 3D motion capture, synchronised ground reaction force analysis (Kistler Force Plates), and walking/running gait, or a series of exercise performance assessments to produce a summary report, for either individuals or teams. We also use this system in many of our research projects.
