Study with an Off-Campus Partner
After graduating from the University of Manchester with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy in 1994, I worked as a physiotherapist for 26 years, primarily within paediatrics, in both the NHS & in a Children鈥檚 Charitable Trust. During this period, I completed the Bath Hydrotherapy course (2001) & a Masters Module in Aquatic Rehabilitation at the University of Hertfordshire (2012).
I have also completed an Aquatic Physiotherapy Tutor training course. In 2017, I obtained a Masters degree in physiotherapy (Advancing Professional Practice - Paediatrics) at Sheffield Hallam University, which included modules in measuring health outcomes, childhood disability & inclusive practice. The resulting Masters dissertation was adapted for poster presentation at the Association of Paediatric Chartered Physiotherapists conference & later for publication in their journal in 2019.
I commenced a Professional Doctorate at the University of Salford in 2017 and am currently in the thesis phase, preparing to undertake primary qualitative research using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis, to explore the lived experience of paediatric physiotherapists working with young people who have disabilities.
I am a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, the Association of Paediatric Chartered Physiotherapists & the Aquatic Therapy Association of Chartered Physiotherapists.
In March 2020, I commenced teaching at the 新加坡六合彩开奖直播 as a Lecturer on the pre-registration undergraduate & postgraduate physiotherapy degree programmes. I strive to utilise the knowledge & skills I have obtained within my previous roles & from previous and current studies to inform physiotherapy practice & facilitate students towards practice readiness at qualification.
I have a particular interest in paediatrics (childhood disability), disability sport & aquatic physiotherapy (hydrotherapy), related to my background as a paediatric physiotherapist. I am keen to continue to develop both personally & professionally within my role at the university & to continue to develop the evidence base for the profession through further primary research, whilst informing physiotherapy education.
