Charlotte Conn

Programme Lead

Charlotte Conn (MSc, PGCert, PGDip, BSc, FHEA, MBACP) is a Lecturer within the Psychology department and is currently Programme Lead for the MSc Counselling and Positive Psychology.

Charlotte is a practicing Person-Centered Counsellor and is registered with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). After graduating with a BSc in Psychology Charlotte completed a postgraduate diploma and Masters to specialise in Counselling and Psychotherapy. Since then Charlotte鈥檚 experience has been built on within a range of counselling practices from working with both children and adults across multiple settings such as helplines, charities, schools, sixth forms, GP surgeries.

Alongside being a Lecturer at the University, Charlotte works within her own private counselling practice as well as within an Employee Assistance Programme for the NHS which focuses on counselling frontline workers. Charlotte is also a Mental Health Mentor for Moodswings and supports students within the Greater Manchester area, with mental health conditions that may impact their university experience. Charlotte believes being in active practice is a key element when teaching counselling to ensure both her counselling and teaching practice remains relevant.

Research Interests and Research Subject Specialisms:
Charlotte has a range of research interests connecting to counselling such as identity, sexuality, rurality, social media, mental health, loss, grooming etc.
