BBC TV journalist and presenter Roger Johnson visited the University to film Stephen Hindley who has been working with the Faculty of Health and Wellbeing to help students to become more effective health care professionals.
Stephen has tapped into lessons learned from his poor experience of care from health and social care professionals when his wife Judith was seriously impacted by mental illness throughout their married life and who tragically took her own life in 2006.
His story has made national news recently (see link ).
Stephen led a debrief session with students, who have completed a learning package created him in collaboration with the University to help them understand how to deal with those who suffer mental trauma.
Bimpe Kuti-Matekenya, Programme Lead - Public Health Programmes and University Lead - People with Lived Experience and Carer (PLEC) Strategy was also interviewed by Roger for the news feature, which will be aired some time in the next fortnight.
