The Centre establishes a need for organisations to take steps to boost social mobility and equality of opportunity. The Centre will add value and inform local, national and international stakeholders in the following ways:-
The Rt Hon Justine Greening has been a vocal advocate for diversity and equality in education and entrepreneurship, and her initiatives in these areas have been widely recognized.
As the former Secretary of State for Education and Minister for Women and Equalities in the UK, Greening has championed policies and programs aimed at promoting social mobility, narrowing the attainment gap, and supporting entrepreneurs from underrepresented groups.
In particular, her Social Mobility Pledge encourages businesses and universities to take concrete actions to increase social mobility and diversity within their organizations. The pledge has garnered support from over 450 organizations, including some of the UK's largest employers.
Greening has also been a strong advocate for apprenticeships, arguing that they provide an excellent opportunity for young people from all backgrounds to gain valuable skills and experience. She has pushed for reforms to the apprenticeship system to make it more accessible and inclusive, including the introduction of degree apprenticeships.
Overall, the Rt Hon Justine Greening's initiatives have helped to raise awareness and drive progress towards a more diverse and inclusive education and entrepreneurship landscape. The launch of the new Centre for research in BAME Education and Entrepreneurship is a welcome addition to this ongoing effort.
